What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Assistant II - Zoology position at Field Museum?
Our Mission: Since the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, our organization has aimed to connect people to the natural environment and human history.
The Field Museum is seeking a Research Assistant in Zoology. They will assist Curator Rüdiger Bieler with tasks in the marine molluscan collections in the context of a grant-funded biodiversity project that compares the faunas of Caribbean Panama and the Florida Keys.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Data entry
- Specimen handling and sorting (dry and fluid preserved)
- Verification of geographic data
- Organization of specimen lots and literature files
Minimum education level: BSc.
Experience and skills desired:
- Experience with natural history collections and database management systems such as EMu
- Organizational skill
- Detail attention
- Ability to work with ethanol-preserved material
Pay: $21.00/hr
