Job Summary
Assists clients/residents of adult care facility with personal care under the supervision of an LPN/RN by performing the following duties. Responsible/Accountable for the accuracy and validity of all recorded documentation pertaining to your job description.
Duties
- Assists residents with the care of teeth and gums.
- Assist residents to dress, bathe, and groom self, including shampooing hair, shaving, and ordinary care of nails (washing, drying and filing with an emery board.)
- Assist residents into and out of bed, or wheelchair, and to lavatory.
- Assist residents with special needs in small dining room. Providing prompting, cueing and set-up during meals to those residents who require monitoring due to dementia, weakness or loss of appetite. Reports status to DPC/RN.
- Assist clients with mobility, including lifting and transferring them safely when required.
- Change bed linens as necessary, in the absence of housekeepers.
- Report concerns to medication aide.
- May perform additional tasks if special circumstances exist and if properly trained and supervised by Supervisor
Qualifications
- Experience in senior care or home community care is preferred.
- Ability to lift and assist clients safely; physical stamina is essential for this role.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and patience are essential traits for success in this position.
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- High school diploma or GED; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a Home Health Aide Certificate or Personal Care Aide Certificate
