Field Station: Dinosaurs is looking for additional cast members to help us create the most dynamic live children's experience in the Midwest.
Take part in live shows, games and activities each day as an for our guests as a Featured Performer, become the Mighty T-Rex - our fifteen foot juvenile tyrannosaurus rex, or help us create positive engagement as an Expedition Guide. Learn more about each position below!
Featured Performer
Featured Performers take the stage to perform original live shows, games, and activities each day as the primary entertainers for our guests. Most performers are trained to perform all roles, which include The Dinosaur Wrangler, The Dinosaur Handler, Field Station Intern and could even perform as The Mighty T-Rex – our 15-foot puppet. You’ll find success if you can sing, dance and are adept at learning scripts & new activities.
Mighty T-Rex Puppeteer
Become a living, breathing, roaring dinosaur! The Mighty T-Rex is the guest of honor at Field Station: Dinosaurs and stars in shows like The T-Rex Feeding Frenzy and is a one-of-a-kind performance opportunity. You'll find success if you can sing, dance, and are adept at learning scripts & new activities.
- Minimum height of 5′ 9″
- Must be capable of performing in a full body puppet costume for 30 minutes at a time
- Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time
- Mascot or previous puppet work is a nice to have skill
- Training will be provided
- Must go through an audition process
Expedition Guides
Ensure that our guests feel welcome by becoming an Expedition Guide! This position is critical to providing impactful experiences throughout the day to visitors. You will help with check-in, scan tickets, answer questions, give instruction to guests, assist with interactive activities and more. Expedition Guides must be enthusiastic about our number one goal: creating the best possible visit for every guest. They should be excited about curiosity and be advocates for the spirit of science.
Expedition Guides can occasionally called upon to perform in shows, games and activities as needed by management. Performing is not a requirement for this role but is a huge plus.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?
- We prefer to hire age 16
- Part Time, Seasonal Position (Hours available March - December)
- Field Station: Dinosaurs (Derby) minimum wage is $12.00/hour
- Compensation commensurate with experience
- All positions require the ability to work outdoors in hot or cold conditions
- A great Summer job for high school & college students
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Live theater, children's activities, and First Aid skills experience are a plus
- A positive and curious attitude is a must in order to achieve our number one goal: creating the best possible visit for every guest.
- Tasks will be assigned by supervisors to keep things running smoothly for our guests and include possible tasks from all departments.
