Pullet Farm caretaker

Requirements:

• Will be required to relocate and live on premises.
• Will be required to stay on the farm at all times unless approved by supervisor (home is located on the farm)
• Be able to communicate fluently in English
• Be able to read English efficiently and perform math skills
• Cannot own live birds, cannot visit pet shops, flea markets, or friends/families where birds exist.
• Strict biosecurity procedures regarding visitors on farm and house/land premises due to disease control for farm(s)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works hours in the chicken house are approximately 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. Will have to perform any maintenance required work in and around the chicken house(s).
• Will be required to operate machinery to mow grass around houses / in fields.
• Required to put feed out in pans at times, which will require pushing a wheel barrel that may contain 100 lbs of feed.
• Will have to pick up dead birds and dispose of them in pits. (Birds can weigh 6 lbs. each)
• In cases of inclement weather – may have to work round the clock taking care of birds if power outage, etc.
• Will be required to work in chicken house (with live birds).
• Chicken house environment can be dusty, ammonia in houses, and dim lighting.
