Discover a career in banking at Fifth Third Bank.GENERAL FUNCTION : The Legal Counsel will manage and advise on a variety of commercial payments products. Subject matter expert in Commercial Banking and Payments. Regularly advise and counsel business clients on product specific laws and regulations, compliance, operational, and reputational risk issues emanating from Financial Services and the Payments Industry; and, in all matters which are regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Federal Reserve Board, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Regularly advise the line of business on payments disputes, with an emphasis on check disputes under the UCC.Experience as a practicing attorney in financial services or supporting treasury or cash management business is highly desired; government or other contract negotiation; drafting product and service terms and conditions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Provide legal guidance and counsel to specific department, division, line of business, etc. Works with representatives from various departments on developing / modifying policies and procedures where necessary. Perform all necessary legal research for area of responsibility.Review and negotiate bank agreements with clients and the bank’s vendors, at times distributing them to appropriate outside counsel.
