Evaluate, design and implement technology solutions to build and progress technology strategies with a line of business. The incumbent will be the application owner responsible for third party, purchased software (Kafka / MSK, Lenses, & BigID). They will have responsibility to work with vendors to understand upcoming changes, how the software fits into the technology roadmap, and design plans to ensure business continuity and effectiveness. Understands the banks systems, how they are configured, and how we need to reconfigure to meet the changes. If aligned to an Agile squad, may work closely with the Product Owner to ensure user stories are defined appropriately to develop effective technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and Manage Kafka Clusters:Design, deploy, and maintain Kafka clusters using Amazon MSK to ensure high availability and performance.
• Monitor and Optimize Kafka Performance:Utilize Lenses to monitor Kafka clusters, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements.
• Data Classification and Security:Implement and manage BigID for data classification across S3 buckets, RDS instances, and on-premises databases to ensure compliance with data governance policies.
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:Work closely with data engineers, software developers, and security teams to integrate and optimize data workflows.
• Automate Processes:Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline data processing and management tasks.
• Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues:Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex platform issues and ensure minimal downtime.
• Stay Updated with Industry Trends:Continuously research and implement best practices and emerging technologies in data management and platform engineering.

Qualifications:

• Experience:Minimum of 8 years in platform engineering or a related field, with significant experience in managing Kafka clusters.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in Amazon MSK, Lenses, and BigID. Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) and experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Education:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Problem-Solving:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
• Communication:Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Team Player:Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
