What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front of House/Bar Manager position at Fighting Fish?
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic person to join our team as our Front Of House Manager. We value a positive, respectful, professional work space, and are only looking for candidates who would fit into that environment.
The Front Of House (FOH) Manager position for Fighting Fish is a full-time, salaried position for one person who will be responsible for all day-to-day FOH operations. Salary range is 55k-65k plus benefits, depending on your proven experience level. We offer Health Insurance after six months of employment, Paid Holidays, PTO, and an Employee Discount. This position will be five days per week (barring emergencies), approximately 11:30am-8pm, two consecutive weekdays off.
Bar Management or FOH management experience is strongly preferred. 5 years of bartending/serving experience is required. Must have an understanding and experience in managing alcohol and labor costs, as well as inventory. We are looking for someone with impressive verbal and written communication skills, a working knowledge of how to push sales and break monetary goals, ability to provide effective leadership for the entire staff, while maintaining a positive and helpful demeanor with guests at all times.
The list below is to give a more detailed description of duties, but should not be construed as a complete list. The Front of House Manager is responsible for the entire needs of the FOH of Fighting Fish.
- Managing the bar program, including implementing seasonal cocktail menu changes, and supervising weekly/daily creation of house simples/mixers
- Must have the ability to cover all FOH positions: bartending, serving, hosting, server assist
- Actively engages with guests, addresses inquiries both in-person and online, and ensures exceptional customer service standards
- FOH staff management: Assessing new staff needs, posting for hire, interviewing, training, fostering a skilled workforce, maintaining a positive work environment, employee disciplinary actions
- Accountable for FOH P&L management. Expense tracking, monthly cost percentages of entire beverage program
- Working knowledge of all monetary aspects of FF: Daily sales averages, tip averages, labor costs of FOH, etc.
- Weekly FOH inventory
- In-person shopping for all FOH needs
- Online alcohol ordering
- Creating and enforcing FOH schedule
- Organization of holidays/events, underneath guidance of GM
- Responsible for independently assessing situations and researching/developing the solutions in cases where a policy is not already in place. Capable of self-management and motivation. Constantly pushing Fish forward and learning more things, under the independent understanding that you must be able to “figure it out”
- Money management: cash drops, void/discount reports, small bills
- Floor management and supervision five days/nights per week
- Act as Manager On Duty for entire restaurant when Chef (owner) or the General Manager is not there
- Lead the restaurant by example. The FOH manager is the face of Fighting Fish; we need someone who will maintain a positive, friendly, productive attitude even in the busiest times.
Must have your own functioning vehicle for shopping needs. Must be able to lift 50 pounds (moving kegs, etc).
