Job Details
Description
Great Benefits, Competitive Wages, Paid Training
Many people go to work every day, wondering if they’re making a difference.
Direct support professionals don’t wonder—they know they are.
Filling Homes is looking for Direct Support Professionals, or DSPs, in Napoleon, Defiance, Archbold, Wauseon, Bryan, and West Unity. We are looking for fun people who find joy in helping others!
As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with their daily needs and activities. Through the care you’ll give, our residents have the opportunity to reach their greatest level of independence.
DSPs are in your grocery stores helping people shop. They’re accompanying people to local events in your community. And they’re providing training and assistance to someone you may know.
Anyone can be a DSP. There is no special training required—and we pay you while you learn everything you need to succeed.
And unlike most jobs, DSPs do something deeply rewarding while they earn a competitive wage and benefits.
Here’s what you’ll get as a DSP at Filling Homes:
- a starting wage of $16.50 per hour with opportunities for wage increases in as little as 3 months
- $0.75-$1.50/hour shift differential
- vision/dental/medical insurance plans after 30 days of employment
- paid training and opportunities for advancement
- opportunity for annual wage increase
- paid time off hours that begin accumulating from your first day of employment
- a career that is lay off-proof (and with an ever-growing demand)
- compensation while attending parties, special events, and offsite outings
- flexible hours to balance family and work responsibilities
- access to free counseling services and on staff Success Coach (for when life gets a little overwhelming)
- incredible connections with amazing people
Through the care you’ll give, you’ll develop strong bonds with residents at Filling Homes. Coming to work can end up feeling like spending time with family.
Here’s what we need from you:
- a high school diploma or GED (preferred but not necessary)
- a willingness to learn (while getting paid!)
- effective verbal and written communication and comprehension skills
- a positive and caring attitude
What Will I Do As a DSP?
Among other things, a DSP assists with routine daily activities in our group home setting. This could be:
- helping residents with dining, mobility and hygiene activities
- accompanying them to run errands
- attending special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games and social events
- sitting down to talk and connect with them
Being a DSP is interactive and active — no falling into a rut or being stuck at a desk. Every day is different at Filling Homes! Our hope is that you come here every day with something to give—and leave with stories you never want to forget.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, apply today! We’d love to answer all of your questions and show you how inspirational a career as a DSP can be.
