What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Technician position at Fillmore County Hospital?
POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing Fillmore County Hospital, as may be instructed by the housekeeping supervisor to ensure that the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintains standards of cleanliness in assigned areas as established by departmental policy.
- Sweeps, dust mops and wet mops floors: cleans, disinfects and deodorizes urinals, commodes, sinks, mirrors, water fountains, etc.
- Performs isolation cleaning and dismissal cleaning as assigned. Washes walls, Performs dusting (high, low, vertical and horizontal), washes walls and replenishes supplies.
- Collects trash and linens from assigned areas and deposit them in the appropriate place for pick-up or removal.
- Moves furniture such as beds, chairs tables, etc.
- Cleans office areas in accordance to policies.
2. Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions, as assigned.
- Coordinates daily housekeeping services with nursing service, when performing routine cleaning assignments.
- Coordinates routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
- Cleans patient rooms and furnishings.
- Assures that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
- Assures that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies is maintained in utility/janitorial closet to perform daily tasks.
- Cleans work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary/directed.
3. Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks, and when using equipment and supplies.
- Assures that established infection control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Keeps work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.
- Assures that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and the end of the work day.
- Reports all hazardous conditions or equipment to the housekeeping manager.
- Reports all accidents/incidents to the supervisor, no matter how minor they may be.
4. Makes productive use of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains assigned equipment in clean, operable condition.
- Keeps cart cleaned and stocked.
5. Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patients medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.
6. Participates in FCH committees, quality assurance, performance and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.
7. Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements related to the performance of FCH operations and requirements of the FCH Compliance Program. Including but not limited to:
- The Compliance Policy.
- Completes all on-line training annually and as assigned.
- All department and organization-wide policies.
- Considers the impact of regulations such as Critical Access Hospital requirements, along with Federal and State of Nebraska regulations and discusses concerns appropriately to ensure compliance.
8. Presents self in a professional manner and enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
