Eligibility Verification Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Verification and Benefits
REPORTS TO: Verification and Benefits Manager
Job Summary: This individual is responsible for verifying eligibility prior to eye exams, calling insurances to obtain eligibility, calling patients, and inputting insurance information into the correct places.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years minimum experience in medical office, insurance experience preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent follow-up skills.
- Management of multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently.
- Positive team member.
- Self- motivator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verifies insurance eligibility for designated locations.
- Verifies insurance cards and ID numbers.
- Contact insurance companies regarding eligibility as needed.
- Verifies authorizations.
- Completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Use of insurance portals.
- Inputting eligibility information into correct areas.
- Contact patients as needed.
- Performs other duties as required.
