What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Security Operations Center position at Finance of America?
Purpose of Role
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of Finance of America’s 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC).
Expectations:
- Leads the overall strategy, execution, and roadmap for the Security Operations Center (SOC), including investigations, planning, systems, staffing, and security tooling selection.
- Manages a cost-efficient SOC by hiring, staffing, training, developing, and evaluating team performance.
- Advises Security leadership on developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems to achieve best-practice control objectives for protecting information assets.
- Works with Security leadership to design, implement, and monitor a comprehensive SOC vision and strategy aligned with organizational priorities and business objectives.
- Creates an environment that fosters optimization and encourages innovative approaches to business and technology challenges.
- Empowers Finance of America’s pursuit of effective technology selection programs that provide opportunities and advantages to executive audiences.
- Manages process to identify, respond to, contain, and communicate suspected or confirmed incidents, ensuring the protection of corporate IT assets, intellectual property, regulated data, and the company's reputation.
- Empowers the team with training and self-improvement opportunities while providing the resources needed to effectively mature the information security program.
- Assists Security leadership in developing an information security framework based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and other industry best practices.
- Contributes to the publication of information security policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Facilitates a metrics and reporting framework to measure program efficiency and effectiveness, optimize resource allocation, and enhance the Security Operations Center's maturity while reviewing progress with stakeholders as appropriate.
- Communicates SOC goals, vision, and strategy across Finance of America. Builds internal networks among security leadership and personnel.
- Develops external partnerships to advance SOC and Finance of America objectives.
- Leads FOA’s efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats across the company.
- Provides strategic direction and vision, implements scalable and efficient policies, processes, and reporting systems, and ensures quality and consistent delivery that meets internal and external requirements.
- Leads and manages resources across multiple security disciplines, including security operations, threat intelligence, legal investigations, and incident response.
- Partners cross-functionally and collaborates with external vendors to enhance the quality of security services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION - REQUIRED
- High School Diploma

- Bachelor's Degree
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION - FIELD(S)/PROFESSION(S)
- Computer Science, Information Security, Management of Information Systems, or related field preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, risk management, security operations, and information technology fields, with 3 years of progressive management experience. Demonstrated corporate leadership experience, ideally in building programs across a diversified organization preferred.
- Experience in leading SOC investigations and utilizing standard SOC tools (NDR, EDR, & SIEMs) to investigate security incidents, legal investigations, compliance investigations and other security related investigations.
- Knowledge of key U.S. laws and regulations relating to financial services technology and cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of a wide range of technologies and how to best leverage them at organization scale to achieve strategic objectives.
- Familiarity with lending and technology industry trends and strategic direction.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, with an ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate action(s).
- Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, manage open-ended challenges and drive projects forward to completion.
- Ability to present complex material in an easily understandable format (written or oral) and communicate effectively across groups, including executives, with varying levels of technology knowledge.
- Comfortable working amidst structural uncertainty to bring order and process where there is none.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is ($140,000 - $180,000) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer.
