Position Summary

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing the portfolio management process and secondarily, involved in the loan due diligence and documentation process for our business members. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in banking operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex financial transactions. This position offers an opportunity to support the Business Services operation and work closely with Credit Officers and Relationship Managers (RMs) to ensure a seamless member experience and efficient loan monitoring throughout the life of the loan.


Essential Functions & Primary Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management:
  • Assist in the management and monitoring of the member business loan portfolio, including conducting annual reviews of credit risk including covenant compliance, financial statement requirements, loan performance, and compliance with all terms and conditions.
  • Credit Risk Management:
  • Help identify and mitigate potential risks within the portfolio by monitoring credit quality, payment performance, and financial health of the business members. Collaborate with the Credit Officers and Relationship Managers to proactively recommend actions to address any concerns or defaults.

 

Underwriting:

Perform in-depth analysis for new and existing loans, including credit analysis, financial statement review, credit reports and risk assessment to support Relationship Managers and Credit Officers in making informed lending decisions.


Client Relationship Support:

Work closely with Relationship Managers to facilitate smooth communication and provide necessary support during the loan origination, closing, and monitoring phases. Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and updates for Executive management and the Board.


Loan Due Diligence and Documentation Process:

Review loan applications, approvals and supporting documentation (e.g., appraisals, title reports, insurance policies, LaserPro documentation) for completeness, accuracy and consistency, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the Relationship Managers, Credit Officers and the Servicing team to ensure proper documentation for loan agreements.


Process Improvement:

Contribute to the continuous improvement of loan administration processes, procedures, and systems. Recommend and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of portfolio management operations.


Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:

Ensure that all loan documentation, processes, and client interactions are fully compliant with credit union regulations and internal policies. Work with internal loan review and regulators to provide all the requested portfolio information as requested. Maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of portfolio management.


Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls, and should request legal interpretation as necessary. Must ensure subordinates are also compliant with such laws and regulations.


Must be bondable.

Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education & Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field. 

·      Minimum of 5 years of experience in business lending or a related financial services role with a strong understanding of loan underwriting, credit analysis, portfolio management and the loan documentation process.

  • Additionally, this position requires an understanding of basic computer skills including m365 suites.



Skills and Abilities

·      Strong knowledge of the business credit process, underwriting and loan documentation process.

·      In-depth understanding of financial statements, credit risk analysis, and due diligence procedures.

·      Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, CRM systems).

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, senior management, and internal teams.

·      Thorough understanding of Credit Union and Banking Regulations

·      Outstanding analytical skills and problem-solving ability
