Position Summary:
Manages and influences the profitability of the assigned branch with particular emphasis on building member relationships; expands the sales culture and provides leadership and resources to achieve desired results; directs branch staff activities towards attainment of branch sales goals; includes a consultative sales approach and conducts on-site business visits; utilizes problem solving, decision making, team building skills, and maintains a high degree of flexibility; promotes high morale and exhibits positive attitudes towards members and fellow employees while instilling a sense of team spirit throughout the branch. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed.
Essential Function & Primary Responsibilities:
Managing the Branch by encompassing all aspects of sales, profitability, staffing and compliance.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Serves as a sales leader; communicates sales philosophy; conducts weekly sales meeting; ensures branch is obtaining or exceeding sales goals; and utilizes sales, referral and member service skills to ensure the members’ and internal customers’ needs are being met through efficient and effective service.
- Reviews expectations of sales objectives with staff; monitors employee’s overall performance; coaches to quality and accuracy, teaches how to identify member needs to seize sales opportunities; provides positive reinforcement; and recognizes and rewards staff when warranted.
- Responsible for staff hiring, scheduling, training, and development. Identifies corrective actions in the event of substandard performance; counsels staff addressing specific behaviors contributing to substandard performance; solicits employee’s input for corrective action; monitors employee’s performance for improvement; works with Human Resource Department to initiate disciplinary action, including discharge, if warranted.
- Communicates frequently with staff through one-on one sessions, staff meetings, email and other forms of communication; addresses and resolves employee complaints and conflicts; shares information which affects the Credit Union branch/ and or employee; seeks employees’ ideas, feedback and opinion; and responds to employee communication in a reasonable time frame. Information may include, but is not limited, to policy, procedures, process changes and rationale, strategic and business plans, operational information, and legal issues.
- Attends salary staff meetings, actively participates in discussion, communicates sales achievements and challenges, suggests changes in policies, procedures, and processes which will improve the branch‘s effectiveness and efficiency; shares ideas and opinions pertaining to the enhancement of member sales/ service activities including product/service enhancements and sales campaigns.
- Loans: Ensures branch consumer loan applications and loan closings follow established policies and procedures as directed by the Senior Vice President of Lending.
- Works with Marketing Department to gain visibility through Community Relations events within the surrounding geographic area.
- Participates in the implementation and testing of technological enhancements including host system upgrades, LTS units, and electronic delivery channels.
- Receives and resolves high level inquiries and/or difficult member issues; forwards escalated member complaints to SVP OF People & Retail Delivery if unable to successfully resolve.
- Supervises branch audits and makes recommendations for operational changes as needed.
- Ensures branch follows all regulations and security procedures.
- Opens and or closes branch facility and participates in Saturday and Holiday rotations; monitors security devices and ensures building security; and coordinates needed maintenance with facilities manager, including building, grounds, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Understand and can comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, Military Lending Act, Office of Foreign Asset Controls, FCRA, Graham Leach- Bliley, and all applicable lending regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
- Three to Five years of progressive management experience in a Financial Industry with proven results
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Finance or Business is a plus
- Must have sales and service, planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, presentation, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to adhere to internal policies as well as external policies and regulations set forth by the NCUA
- Be adaptable to change and embrace SPARK! service standards
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Software
Skills and Abilities:
- Level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, Board of Directors, members, and other external contacts. External contacts may include member companies, vendors, financial institutions, auditor/examiners, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and business associations
- Must be able to work extended hours in order to accomplish organizational and or sales function goals
- Must be able to quickly learn core processing system (Symitar) and possess business computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and other general business software

- Must be bondable.
