Detailed Description
- Oversee all facets of local, state and federal regulations pertaining to Shipyards and Maritime Environments.
- Observe and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with company safety standards as well as all local, state and federal guidelines.
- Manage and drive improvements to facility hazardous waste programs.
- Accountable for Air Quality Management and Waste Water Management.
- Effectively manage worker's compensation.
- Manage all aspects of EHS training from reporting, tracking, maintaining, developing, and providing training to the account.
- Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and participate in the development of materials for these presentations.
- Effective Navigation of the 29CFR 1910 & 1915.
- Support behavioral based safety training program (DuPont Stop).
- Investigate incidents to identify cause and determine detailed proactive measures to prevent such instances in the future.
- Analyze and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Manage all vessel Audits.
- Collect data samples of various materials for occupational health data collection.
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
- Assist in the maintenance of current hygiene programs, such as noise dosimetry surveys, atmospheric monitoring, ventilation surveys, or lead abatement plans.
- Ensure the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
- Maintain all OSHA Recordkeeping Requirements.
- Effectively perform & communicate Root Cause Analysis.
- Manage the company Drug & Alcohol Policy.
- Manage Light Duty employees and budget.
- Create, develop and implement EHS policies, practices and programs.
- Effectively collect, analyze and manage multi-tier KPI data.
- Effective chair multiple committees for EHS functions.
- Security Management oversight.
- Medical Records & HIPAA Management / Compliance.
- Industrial Hygiene Program Management.
- Risk & Threat Assessment / Management.
- Online Indocin / Visitor Regulations.
- Ensure that company, vendors and employees are in compliance with the Global Harmonization System.
- Maintain emergency response plans or procedures.
- The ability to handle minor medical treatment and properly triage complex medical injuries or industrial incidents.
- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related
- A minimum of 8 years related experience in Maritime, Construction or Heavy Manufacturing
- A minimum of 5 years Safety Management experience
- HAZWOPER Certification
- Qualified candidates must be a certified first responder or have the ability to gain certification
- Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and Power Point
- Must have the desire to advance and constantly challenge oneself
- A degree of study in Occupational Safety & Health or closely related field of study is strongly preferred.
- OSHA Maritime 10 hour training preferred
- ASP/CSP Certification preferred, or willingness to achieve
- Bilingual language skills (oral & written) a plus
- Complex problem solving skills
- Ability to convey information effectively
- Sound judgement and decision making skills
