FIND Food Bank is the Desert’s Regional Food Bank, the Feeding America Member food bank that serves the Coachella Valley Desert area of California (commonly known as the Palm Springs, CA area) and is the State of CA’s recognized USDA and primary disaster response food distributor for the region. For over 35 years, FIND has dedicated itself to relieving hunger, the causes of hunger, and the problems associated with hunger through awareness, education, community involvement and mobilizing resources to those in need of food assistance in the eastern Riverside and southern San Bernardino Counties Areas. SUMMARY of POSITION
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the CDL driver is responsible for driving a company truck on a regularly schedule route to pick up donated food products from food donors and returning to the appropriate warehouse for unloading. Additionally, the driver picks up product from unscheduled destinations, and occasionally transports product to off-site locations. You will be our front line in the capacity of Customer Service Representative (CSR) in daily interaction with donors. The following is a general list of job responsibilities that will be reviewed and/or updated at the conclusion of the probationary period and annually thereafter.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License as required
- Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving
- Occasionally organize and secure load
- Assist forklift operators when loading
- Check orders for accuracy
- Deliver and unload with customer satisfaction
- Complete daily equipment pre-inspection
- Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation
- Log in deliveries on supervisor’s log sheet
- Wait on customers while truck is being loaded
- Relay messages sent by customers while on job
- Assist supervisor, other employees and other work areas, as assigned
- Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor As required to meet the needs of the company, other duties may be assigned as needed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum experience required: Must be a CDL A or B driver
- Ability to be Forklift and/or pallet jack operation certified
- Ability to be Food Safety Certified JD: Driver/Warehouse Associate Page
- Minimum education required: High School Diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License, proof of auto insurance on personal vehicle used, be insurable by FIND’s commercial auto policy provider, and have reliable transportation for business use.
- Clean driving record and current operator’s license
- Ability to work nights, weekends and split shifts as required.
Required Experience:
- Recent experience driving a commercial Class A vehicle
WORK ENVIRONMENT Warehouse environment, including work in coolers/freezers and in warehouse with extreme temperature variance; extensive computer and phone work; responsible for safe use of equipment; frequent driving, walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing in excess of 60 pounds; work periodically requires extended hours.
