Demand Planning Manager – Food Manufacturing
Location: On-site in Richmond, VA
We are currently recruiting for a Demand Planning Manager on behalf of a leading food manufacturer based in Richmond, VA. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate demand forecasting and driving collaboration across sales, supply chain, and marketing functions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in CPG and food manufacturing demand planning, utilizing advanced forecasting tools and methodologies to improve forecast accuracy, optimize supply chain performance, and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage accurate, data-driven demand forecasts aligned with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams.
- Refine forecasting models using historical data, customer insights, and market trends to continuously improve accuracy.
- Lead and facilitate the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment between demand planning and overall business objectives.
- Partner closely with sales to incorporate real-time updates into demand forecasts and maintain business alignment.
- Monitor and report forecast accuracy metrics (e.g., MAPE, bias), implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Leverage advanced demand planning systems, ERP tools, and statistical models to optimize forecasting and planning processes.
- Identify risks and opportunities in the demand plan, providing proactive insights to mitigate disruptions and improve service levels.
- Collaborate with supply planning and procurement to ensure a balanced approach between supply and demand, minimizing inventory excess or shortages.
- Lead and develop a Forecasting Analyst, providing mentorship and performance feedback.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best-in-class demand planning methodologies and practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in demand planning, sales forecasting, or supply chain management within the food manufacturing and/or CPG industry.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience, including direct management of demand planning teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
- Proven expertise in advanced forecasting techniques, including statistical modeling, AI/ML forecasting, and predictive analytics.
- Proficiency in demand planning software and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or PeopleSoft.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Strong understanding of S&OP processes and best practices.
