The company is a privately held retail organization that sells a variety of nuts, fruits, spices, olives, chocolates, candies, coffee, tea and prepared foods market style. Founded overseas over 20 years ago, the company moved into the US in 2020 and today operates 20 stores in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts with plans to rapidly expand to over 100 stores on the east coast.
Position Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for the accounting and finance operations for the US retail store business and will serve as a trusted partner to the leadership team to grow the business. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and strategic and can thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Controller will oversee the company’s financial health by taking ownership of the financial reporting process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a partner with executive leadership by analyzing and interpreting key financial data and making suggestions to help the organization achieve its growth objectives.
- Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts and statements to understand the ongoing financial state of business
- In concert with the executive team, lead the budgeting and financial planning process
- Supervise, mentor and teach financial staff
- Monitor the company’s financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Keep up-to-date on the financial markets to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas
- Understand the financial status of a company to meet legal requirements and keep the company in good standing
- Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
- Maximizes return and limits risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments
- Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions
- Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential

Location:
The position will work from the corporate offices located in the Midland Park area of New Jersey.
Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
