Summary
The Senior Supplier Quality Engineering Manager will manage supplier quality for electronics/electrical components. This will include working to prevent issues upstream in the supply chain & reacting rapidly to issues in the plant & field. You will also be responsible for quality plan implementation, selecting suppliers through qualification processes, owning supplier results, driving improvements, utilizing supplier scorecards, monitoring and reacting to the Electronics SQE team DPM (factory metrics by suppliers), and analyzing data to discover supplier or facility related issues. In this role, you will leverage strong leadership and influencing skills to drive process improvements internally and at the suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing Electronics SQE team DPM (factory metrics by suppliers) to discover supplier or facility-related issues.
- Monitoring Loco and OHV infancy and field escalations/issues to drive failure analysis plan and supplier actions.
- Leveraging good supplier and cross-functional management skills, as this position will require working with suppliers, various internal teams, and customer teams.
- For example, leading supplier process improvement projects and reporting results to our management teams and customer teams.
- Capability to think outside of the box and accept ideas from others to drive robust and cost-effective solutions to resolve technical and customer issues.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other SQEs (all regions) on issues and technical/professional training.
- Includes both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development.
- Includes supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence.
- SQE will have high level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage suppliers.
- Develops annual plan for own unit and delivers data for the programs of encompassing units in the function or in the business and midterm plans.
- Department shares knowledge acquired in concrete projects.
- Responsibility across multiple job families (e.g., Quality Assurance & Quality Control).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering with various commodities.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time to required customer, supplier, and company sites, as needed.
- Strong experience in PPAP/SDR/SCAR/Supplier Audit processes.
- Strong hands-on troubleshooting and Failure Analysis skills to identify root cause.
- Capable of interpreting analysis results, such as visual examination, bench testing, cross-section, SEM/EDX, FTIR, ionic chromatography testing, etc., to drive corrective actions.
- Strong and diverse Supplier Quality Engineering background in various commodities.
- Strong understanding of various locomotive and OHV electrical and electronics components design, material, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of the following:
1. PCBA and electronics panels manufacturing processes (SMT, PTH, test, ESS, assembly, and RMA)
2. Power devices (diodes/IGBT/Gate Drivers)
3. Various sensors design/material/manufacturing processes, speed/temperature/pressure/current.
4. Cables/harnesses/FOB.
5. Electrical components, such as resistors/capacitors/inductors/connectors/contacts.
6. Electric-magnetic components, such as transformers/reactors/coils.
7. Electric-mechanical components, such as carbon brushes/commutators/collector rings/contactors/relays/switches.
Salary : $95,000 - $156,000
