Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Youngstown Distress Commission is accepting applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Youngstown, Ohio City Schools through the search firm, Finding Leaders at findingleaders.com. Because of unsatisfactory student achievement over the past several years, the Youngstown City Schools are operating under Ohio Revised Code 3302.10 (10 / 15 / 2015-Ohio House Bill 70) which requires the creation of a five-member Academic Distress Commission and the employment of a CEO. The present CEO is leaving the position on July 31, 2019, to pursue other opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Ohio Superintendent certification / license preferred but not required
• Superintendent or CEO experience preferred but not required
• Urban experience preferred but not required
• Turnaround experience preferred but not required
• Understanding of career tech preferred but not required
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledgeable about curriculum, instruction, and student achievement
• Excellent people skills and an understanding of building and maintaining positive relationships
• Knowledge of Ohio school funding preferred but not required.
