Estimator - Electrical Utility Construction

Position Overview:
FindTalent is seeking an experienced Estimator for a confidential client in the electrical utility construction sector. As an Estimator, you will play a key role in evaluating project requirements, creating cost estimates, and preparing competitive bids to secure contracts for utility, commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical projects. You will collaborate with project managers and other key stakeholders to ensure that proposals are accurate, comprehensive, and timely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand electrical system requirements.
- Conduct site assessments as needed to evaluate existing conditions and identify any potential project challenges.
- Work closely with project managers and engineers to define project scope, goals, and objectives.
- Develop detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Use advanced estimating software tools to produce accurate and competitive bids.
- Account for variables such as permits, inspections, and possible change orders when determining costs.
- Request quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and negotiate pricing terms.
- Prepare well-structured proposals that clearly outline the value and competitiveness of the company’s services.
- Present proposals to clients and participate in interviews to help secure contracts.
- Identify and address potential risks related to electrical construction projects, offering solutions for risk mitigation.
- Stay up to date on market trends, industry standards, and regulatory changes that may affect project budgets.
- Maintain precise records of estimates, proposals, and all associated project documents.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure successful project completion.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant trade experience is preferred, but not required.
- At least three years of experience in estimating, construction cost management, or related fields.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industry codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ability to independently estimate electrical projects valued over $100,000.
- Experience in preparing and presenting detailed project proposals.
- Knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and cost-effective strategies.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team environment.
Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this position is between $60,500 and $80,000 annually. Please note, the exact compensation may vary depending on factors such as location, experience, skill set, and the complexity of the project.
