Construction Estimator – Residential/Commercial
Location: Blue Ridge Summit
Fine Line Trim, LLC, located in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for an organized and detail-oriented Residential/Commercial Estimator. The Residential/Commercial Estimator is responsible for preparing and estimating budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications. Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes. Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting information. Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
Job Description and Expectations
- Residential Estimating Manager’s play an integral role in the sales process, while contributing to the bottom line by providing accurate, on time estimates and budgets.
- Estimators are the primary driving force in understanding customers needs, products, and scopes of work and use their knowledge of the industry to provide on time, accurate bids and proposals to assist Fine Line Trim (FLT) Account Representatives and Senior Managers to win business and drive profitability.
- Working collaboratively with FLT’s customer base and internal team, Residential Estimating Managers use their ability to analyze and understand scopes of work, and develop and maintain cost schedules and customer pricing history to provide proposals for various product categories.
- It is critical that estimating managers are able to manage their time to ensure bid dates are met, and have a high level of organization to develop logical price structures based off data that can be used to justify cost and pricing.
Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Understanding and interpreting scopes of work and phases of construction to provide accurate bids for both material and labor
- Maintaining and understanding pricing history and recording historical costs
- Organizing and maintaining a tracking mechanism to ensure FLT is maximizing every opportunity by offering value to the customer, driving profitability through proper costing, and winning bids on as many product categories as possible
- Provide weekly updates to FLT Management team on bids submitted and status. This may include follow up with FLT Account Reps or Senior Management
- Working closely with FLT Field Staff to ensure proper materials are ordered and shipped for turn-key applications
- Work closely within a team of estimators to make sure deadlines are met
- Maintaining material and labor cost templates to ensure bids remain profitable. This may entail establishing and communicating bid expiration dates if materials or commodity prices are volatile. This may also require periodic and regular maintenance and the expectation is that the Estimating Manager is tracking and communicating changes on a regular basis
- Periodic field audits may be required to make sure there aren’t unforeseen costs or excess materials onsite
- Maintaining customer relationships and providing the highest level of service to FLT’s customer base

- Providing accurate bids that meet or exceed profit expectations
- Providing periodic feedback through recording and tracking costs
- Communicating material and labor increases to FLT’s internal team to guard against margin erosion
- Seek out new opportunities for FLT through communication with FLT’s customers and by understanding customer needs
