The EHS Coordinator will play an essential role in ensuring that workplace operations comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations. By closely monitoring and evaluating the work environment, this position helps to minimize risks and protect the well-being of employees. They develop and implement safety programs and policies, train personnel on new protocols, and ensure that the organization is in compliance with all health and safety regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain safety procedures in the workplace, including emergency response plans and fire drills.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints regarding exposure to hazardous materials or work conditions.
- Create training programs for new employees that address their specific job responsibilities for employee safety and all industry applicable trainings, e.g. Forklift driving, proper use of power tools and/or machinery.
- Monitor workplace conditions for hazards such as electrical burns, slips or falls.
- Create an effective EHS program by applying policies and procedures that meet OSHA standards.
- Report any hazardous conditions to management to initiate corrective action or closure of the affected area.
- Identify and evaluate those conditions, practices, and personal behaviors, which result in human, facility, equipment, and product losses for the company's manufacturing facility.
- Communicate and coordinate comprehensive loss control processes to reduce those losses, evaluates and directs compliance with applicable governmental regulation and serve in a support role in handling Safety, Workers' Compensation and claims management.
- Responsible for company safety programs, including Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP).
- Perform employee accident investigations and reporting.
- In Environmental Role: The EHS Coordinator is responsible for administering the execution of all environmental programs at the company's facility.
- Responsible for insuring compliance with environmental permits or other applicable authorizations and regulations of compliance-related tasks.
- Responsible for the company's environmental program which consists of but not limited to wastewater and storm water discharges; air emissions; universal hazardous waste management; hazardous materials management; and compliance with other corresponding state and local requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in EHS related field, Engineering, or safety management.
- 2 years of progressive EHS experience as an EHS Coordinator in a manufacturing facility.
- Regulatory knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, Worker’s Compensation
- Knowledge of Title V Air permits and Large Quantity Generator Hazardous Waste Operations
- Prior experience with safety procedures in a manufacturing environment with such experience gained through work and/or study.
- Experience in a multi- site manufacturing organization and experience with environmental compliance management preferred.
- Experience with Emergency and Spill Response and OSHA HAZWOPER
- Experience with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
- Proficiencies in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly.
- Must be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR)
- Ability to do research, prepare reports, create forms and/or guidelines related to safety.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, presentation, and training skills.
- Strong understanding of incident investigation principles and root cause analysis.
