Job Summary:
The Structural Steel Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing quality assurance in structural steel fabrication, ensuring all products meet industry standards and project specifications. This role requires efficient blueprint reading, precise identification of structural parts, and a commitment to managing quality without hindering production timelines. The QC Manager will lead by example, training team members and continuously improving quality processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Interpretation: Quickly read and interpret blueprints, accurately identifying structural components and their orientation in assemblies.
- Quality Control Implementation: Conduct inspections, ensure adherence to quality standards, and document quality metrics while coordinating with production teams to resolve issues without impacting workflow.
- Time & Efficiency Management: Balance quality control needs with production demands, ensuring quality checkpoints optimize workflow and minimize rework.
- Team Training & Development: Lead and train QC staff, promoting best practices and a proactive approach to quality within the team.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with industry codes and regulations, preparing clear quality reports for management and clients.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and shop drawings, with strong attention to detail.
- Relevant experience in structural steel or similar manufacturing quality control roles.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Tekla, CAD, or related industry standards preferred.
