Finest City Pet Care is looking for part-time dog walkers and pet sitters to join our growing team!

Job Highlights

We are looking for experienced animal lovers for the role of Pet Care Specialist. The primary duties will be dog walking and pet sitting. The ideal candidate for this position is experienced in working with dogs and cats, would enjoy the opportunity to work outdoors and have strong client service skills.

Primary Responsibilities

Dog Walking: Walk up to three dogs for 30-60 minutes at a time, pick-up after them when they potty, and communicate with clients with report cards and pictures of their adventures through our client service app.

Day Pet Sitting (Stop-bys): Caring for dogs, cats, and possibly other small pets while clients are away during the day. This may include feeding, changing water, litter box cleaning, basic medication administration and playtime and/or a short dog walk. This is typically a substitute for overnight pet sitting for those who have overnight care covered by a friend and family member.

Additional Responsibilities

Overnight Pet Sitting: Stay overnight at client’s homes overnight to care for their dogs, cats and possibly other pets while they are away. This typically includes feeding, changing water, dog walks and/or playtime as well as litter box cleaning and basic medication administration like pills or ear meds. It may also include bringing in client’s mail, putting out/bringing in trash cans, watering plants and generally having the house look occupied while they are gone for security purposes. These visits usually start between 5pm and 7pm depending on the client's needs and last no less than 12 hours. Additional stop-bys are 30 to 60 minutes depending on the service they chose and occur throughout the day (usually from10am to 5pm). They are typically dog walks but may include additional feedings, etc.

Marketing: Grow company visibility and build community relationships by visiting groomers/dog washes, pet stores, veterinary hospitals, apartment leasing offices, and other select small businesses and ask to leave or post flyers.

Qualifications and Abilities

· Work experience walking dogs of all sizes and handling cats

· Ability to walk 5 miles a day and occasionally work in inclement weather

· Strong communication skills and ability to respond in a timely fashion via text, phone call, and email using a smartphone

· Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, excellent problem-solver, very comfortable with client communication and ability to self-manage

· Most clients will live within a 15-mile radius of your home so the ideal candidate would live within our service area but not required

· Local, frequent travel is required so you must have a reliable vehicle, have a clean driving record and proof of auto insurance

· We do offer after-hours service so the willingness to service clients outside of business hours on occasion

· Willing to sleep away from home for extended periods, including holidays, if interested in overnight pet sitting

· The ability to walk up to 3 dogs at once

· The ability to walk, run, pull, push, bend, and reach

· The ability to lift up to 30 pounds

· Must be 18 or older and legally able to work in the US

· Able to pass a criminal background check

Pay

· Hourly pay: $17-$19/hour depending on experience

· Overnight Pet Sitting: $64-77 per night depending on the service. Rate does not account for add-ons such as additional stop-bys and extra pets. Holidays pay an additional 50% per night.

· 20-30 hours a week (not including overnight pet sitting) but may have the opportunity to grow into full-time if desired
