Position Overview:
The Fineview & Perry Hilltop Citizens Council is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This individual will play a key role in building strong relationships with the diverse communities of Fineview and Perry Hilltop, engaging neighbors of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the council’s programs, activities, and initiatives. The coordinator will be responsible for conducting a variety of outreach efforts, including canvassing, flyering, social media management, event planning, and ensuring community members are connected to the appropriate resources.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for community engagement, with at least 4-6 years of experience in similar roles, and be skilled at working independently and as part of a collaborative team. This position requires strong communication, organizational, and research skills, along with a deep understanding of community dynamics and a commitment to fostering relationships in both neighborhoods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Outreach & Engagement:
- Conduct door-to-door canvassing and distribute flyers to inform residents about community programs, events, and services.
- Plan, organize, and attend community events (virtual and in-person) to engage with residents and promote the Council’s initiatives.
- Regularly use social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) to share information and updates, creating engaging content and growing online presence.
- Build relationships with neighborhood residents of all ages, including youth, seniors, families, and homebuyers, encouraging them to participate in council programs.
- Resource Connection & Support:
- Research local, state, and federal resources available to community members (e.g., housing, employment, health, and educational resources).
- Serve as a point of contact to connect neighbors to services and resources, offering a warm hand-off when appropriate.
- Help neighbors navigate social services and provide guidance on accessing support.
- Program Promotion & Recruitment:
- Recruit neighbors for participation in various programs offered by the council, such as educational workshops, youth development initiatives, senior programs, or community improvement projects.
- Develop outreach strategies that target diverse groups (youth, seniors, families, homebuyers, etc.), tailoring approaches to the unique needs of the neighborhoods.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Fineview & Perry Hilltop Citizens Council team to ensure cohesive messaging and a consistent approach to outreach.
- Communicate effectively with the council’s board, local leaders, and other stakeholders to stay informed on community needs and opportunities for engagement.
- Technology & Tools:
- Utilize Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.), Canva, and Slack for project management, document sharing, and communication with team members.
- Track outreach efforts and report on progress using a variety of digital tools to ensure effective and timely follow-up with residents.
- Independence & Initiative:
- Take initiative in identifying new outreach opportunities, creating strategies, and carrying out activities with minimal supervision.
- Manage and prioritize multiple outreach projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of experience in community engagement, outreach, or similar roles, ideally within nonprofit organizations or community-based settings.
- Proven ability to build relationships with diverse community groups and engage residents in meaningful ways.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to interact effectively with people of all backgrounds.
- Comfortable with social media platforms and digital tools (Google Suite, Canva, Slack, etc.).
- Experience in organizing and executing community events, from planning to promotion and follow-up.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong research skills and a commitment to understanding local resources and services.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think creatively about community engagement strategies.
- Knowledge of the Fineview and Perry Hilltop neighborhoods is a plus.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time, hybrid position, with the expectation of in-person work for community outreach activities, events, and meetings.
- Must be comfortable with local travel and attending events during evenings or weekends as needed.
