The Assistant Director of Development will play a vital role in advancing the mission of Finger Lakes Community College by managing and growing the mid-level giving program, coordinating impactful fundraising events, stewarding donors and fostering the creation of new scholarships. This position will focus on building strong relationships with donors to transition them through the giving pipeline from low to mid to major gift levels, ensuring long-term support for the colleges programs and initiatives. Building meaningful relationships with businesses and the community to grow and enhance the connection with FLCC will be paramount to success.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelors degree required.

Experience: 3 years experience in fundraising, communications, business or related field, or a nonprofit organization required. Experience working in higher education preferred. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors and stakeholders. Demonstrated success in planning and executing fundraising events. Proficiency in donor database systems (Raisers Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to analyze data and develop strategies to enhance donor engagement. Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities preferred.

Essential Functions:

Mid-Level Giving Program: Develops and implements strategies to engage, solicit, and steward mid-level donors ($500-25,000 annually). Manages a portfolio of mid-level donors, ensuring personalized outreach and regular communication. Collaborates with the Director of Development and Chief Advancement Officer to identify opportunities to transition mid-level donors to major gift prospects.

Fundraising Events: Plans, coordinates, and executes impactful fundraising events that support the College's mission and strategic objectives. Oversees event budgets, sponsorships, and logistics to ensure successful outcomes and donor satisfaction. Works with teams to promote events, drive attendance, and maximize return on investment. Strong networking skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with local businesses are essential.

Donor Stewardship: Designs and implements stewardship plans to recognize and retain donors at all levels. Ensures timely acknowledgment of gifts and provides donors with updates on the impact of their contributions. Organizes and participates in donor appreciation events, campus tours, and meetings.

Scholarship Development: Collaborates with faculty, staff, and external partners to identify
needs for new scholarships. Works with donors to establish scholarship funds, including managing agreements and endowment guidelines. Partners with the scholarship committee to ensure funds are distributed according to donor intent. Oversees the scholarship awarding process from beginning to end, including donor stewardship and reporting. -
Donor Pipeline Development: Analyzes donor giving patterns to identify opportunities for
increasing gifts. Cultivates relationships with entry-level donors, alumni, and other constituents to encourage greater contributions. Works with the major gifts team to identify and transition donors who are ready for higher levels of engagement. -
Collaboration and Reporting: Works closely with the advancement team to align efforts with
overall fundraising goals. Utilizes donor management software (RENXT) to track donor
interactions and progress. Prepares regular reports on mid-level giving, event outcomes, and donor pipeline development. -
Other Duties: Performs additional tasks and special projects as assigned by Advancement
leadership, including those assigned by the Director of Development that align with the
responsibilities of the Director of Development and the Division of Advancement. -
Supervision of Student Workers: Oversees and manages student workers as needed.
