Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician-Assistant at Finger Lakes Community Health (FLCH) plays a key role in supporting pharmacy operations through a combination of administrative, clinical, and patient-focused responsibilities. This position ensures timely access to medications, supports adherence efforts, and enhances pharmacy workflow efficiency. Working closely with clinical pharmacists and interdisciplinary teams, the Technician-Assistant helps improve patient outcomes through a variety of direct and indirect care tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Medication Assistance Program (MAP) Management
- Administer MAPs (ProAct, Walgreens, 340B), including Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs) and manufacturer-sponsored initiatives.
- Guide patients through application processes, eligibility checks, and medication fulfillment.
- Train and support front-end staff in enrolling patients.
- Track program participation and identify areas for improvement.
Pharm.D. & Catalyst Appointment Support
- Assist in scheduling pharmacist and Catalyst team appointments (RNCC, Nutritionist, etc.).
- Coordinate with patients, providers, and support staff to reduce delays and maximize clinical time.
- Gather necessary patient information in preparation for consultations.
Population Health Collaboration
- Use data tools to identify patients at risk of non-adherence.
- Work with the Population Health team to develop and implement adherence strategies aligned with care initiatives.
Medication Reconciliation (Transition of Care)
- Assist pharmacists and nursing staff with medication reconciliation during patient transitions between care settings.
- Help verify medications, identify discrepancies, and communicate changes to patients and providers.
Refill Protocol Development
- Support the creation and implementation of efficient refill protocols to reduce delays and improve access.
- Customize protocols to specific patient needs and reduce prescriber burden.
- Track refill trends and propose updates as needed.
Prior Authorization Support
- Gather documentation, complete forms, and follow up with insurers to support timely medication approvals.
- Help minimize delays related to prior authorization backlogs.
Other Duties:
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in Pharmacy Tech. preferred.
- 2 years in a healthcare or customer service setting preferred.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in navigating and updating electronic health records and/or pharmacy software while maintaining data accuracy.
- Foundational understanding of MAP, PAP, and prior authorization processes.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage basic tasks and meet expectations on time
- Current CPR certification through a HRSA accepted agency is required (can be provided upon employment).
- A valid government-issued photo identification document is required.
- The ability to work flexible hours – some evenings are required.
- The ability to communicate fluently in both Spanish and English is preferred.

- Computer Use: Frequent typing and prolonged screen time.
- Light Lifting: Frequently lifting or carrying objects up to 10 pounds.
- Visual: Clear vision for reading and inspections.
