POSITION SUMMARY:
-
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Registered Nurse on 2 West develops specialized skill in the area of Cardiac Care including telemetry monitoring. The Registered Nurse on 2 West also provides care to adult adolecent and geriatric populations with medical and/or surgical conditions. The 2 West RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The 2 West Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Minimum:

Graduate of an Accredited School of Registered Professional Nursing and Bachelors of Nursing, required.

LICENSE:-
Minimum:

Current NYS RN license.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:-
Minimum:

BLS, ACLS, and PALS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.

Basic Coronary Care obtained within 6 months of hire.

CPI within one year of hire into this position.

WORK EXPERIENCE:-
Minimum:
-
One year of critical care experience as an RN.

Preferred:

One year of float pool experience.

Interpersonal skills which ensure effective communication with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
