Security Guard

• Oversee the property in a manner which protects, maintains, and improves the value of the Fingerlakes Mall’s assets.
• Comply with local codes, regulations, and state laws.
• Perform regular inspections of interior and exterior building, roof, grounds, parking lot, sprinkler system, emergency lighting and other areas.
• Report potential maintenance problems
• Assist mall customers and tenants with questions, problems, and directions in a professional manner.
• Adhere to and ensure that all staff follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety and security
• Ensure that all uniforms, badges, name tags and personal appearance of staff are always clean and professional.
• Maintain confidentiality of company and tenant information
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships within department, other departments, customers, and tenants
• Must be a disciplined self-motivator with the ability to multitask.
• Must have strong customer service and people skills.
• Follow and ensure that all staff follow all OSHA and safety requirements.
• Assist management and the Marketing Department with additional assistance needed in preparation for new tenants and events.
• Document time and complete reports and daily duty lists of completed tasks.
• Assists in set up and removal of folding tables and chairs to assist with marketing events.
• Assists with and polices the removal of snow/ice from walkways, exits, curb areas and application of ice melt.
• Report safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
• Listen and notify Security Manager to the concerns of customers, tenants, and staff.
• Handle requests/complaints in accordance with Fingerlakes Mall policies/procedure.
• Foster and sustain an active dialogue with local law enforcement authorities and maintain the support and cooperation of local law enforcement officers.
• Patrol and tour building area, parking lot and grounds by bike or walking to ensure security.
• Perform routine safety checks as directed.
• Maintain high visibility to deter disturbance and assist customers and personnel.
• Assist other law enforcement agencies as required.
• Maintain a neat appearance and courteous manner in dealing with public.
• Be alert to conditions that could result in injury or loss such as fire, theft, leaks, spills, etc.
• Respond and report such hazards as required.
• Log incidents, file incident reports and maintain records as required.
• Answer telephone and respond to inquiries.
• Assist Marketing Director with promotional events to ensure adequate security coverage.
• Maintain an awareness of incidents occurring in the areas surrounding the Fingerlakes Mall.

Requirements:
- Proven work experience as a Security Guard or relevant position.
- Certificate in security training or related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of CCTV systems and other security equipment.
- Familiarity with law enforcement procedures.
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Ability to manage conflicts and resolve issues peacefully.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
