We are currently seeking a dedicated Head Volleyball Coach to lead the River View High School volleyball program for the 2025-2026 season. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a competitive and positive athletic environment for student-athletes.
Position Summary:The Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the high school volleyball program, including developing players' skills, implementing effective training strategies, promoting teamwork, and fostering a winning culture. This role requires a leader who can motivate athletes, maintain strong communication with stakeholders, and ensure the program aligns with the district’s and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) standards.
Key Responsibilities:Coaching & Player Development:- Implement structured training programs that develop individual and team skills.
- Foster a culture of respect, discipline, and teamwork among student-athletes.
- Provide instruction on techniques, strategies, and rules of the game.
- Instill a sense of responsibility, sportsmanship, and a commitment to excellence.
- Develop and oversee an off-season conditioning and training program.
- Maintain a regular and consistent practice schedule, clearly communicated to players and families.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to carry out the objectives of the sports program.
- Follow district policies and WIAA guidelines regarding student-athlete eligibility and conduct.
- Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes.
- Ensure all necessary athletic forms, waivers, and physicals are completed before participation.
- Plan and operate a summer program to support conditioning, skills development, and team bonding.
- Maintain team records, statistics, and submit reports as required.
- Manage and maintain volleyball equipment and uniforms.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.
- Work cooperatively with students, staff, parents, assistant coaches, administrators, and the community to foster program success.
- Hold a pre-season parent/player meeting to outline expectations, rules, and goals.
- Provide regular updates to players, parents, and administration regarding schedules, team events, and expectations.
- Communicate effectively with assistant coaches to ensure consistency in coaching philosophy and strategies.
- Promote the volleyball program through school announcements, social media, and local media.
- Follow Associated Student Body (ASB) funding protocols when managing fundraising activities.
- Organize and participate in fundraising efforts to support the volleyball program.
- Ensure compliance with Safeschool safety training videos and WIAA-sponsored coaches’ clinics.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Knowledge of preventative health and training standards related to student-athletes.
- Meet and maintain coaching standards as determined by Finley School District and WIAA.
- Ability to inspire and motivate athletes to achieve their best.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- High level of communication and public relations ability.
- Commitment to player safety, character development, and academic success.
- Experience as a Head or Assistant Volleyball Coach at the high school level.
- Coaching experience in other sports within an educational setting.
- A visionary plan for developing the K-12 volleyball program.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategy, and rules.
- Demonstrated ability to be a positive role model for student-athletes.
- Previous experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- On-site at River View High School.
- Requires frequent evening and weekend commitments for practices, games, and events.
- Active and dynamic setting involving gymnasium, weight training areas, and outdoor conditioning activities.
