Summary
This is a general road and bridge construction and maintenance position. Duties may include but are not limited to cleaning and preparing a job site, loading, and delivering parts or materials to job sites, using a variety of tools and machines such as forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, tractors, saws, variety of hand tools, and pressure washers. This position may operate pick-up trucks and various types of light to medium duty construction equipment and is under the supervision of the Road Supervisor or Team Leader and/or his/her

General construction and maintenance
- Mowing and trimming of county roads.
- Safely operate machinery and equipment to process, move, load, and store road construction materials as directed.
- Properly assist with attaching accessories to equipment as requested.
- Properly complete daily paperwork as required for construction and/or maintenance activities.
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on assigned equipment and/or vehicles, to include checking fluid levels, lubrication, fuel, and tire repair.
- Accurately maintain vehicle and equipment maintenance records.
- Clean ditches, ensure intersections are clear, and install and maintain clean culverts to allow for proper water flow. Clear trash from roadside.
- Assist in other areas of the department as needed.
- Perform manual labor in clearing ditches, hand loading equipment and tools, uses shovels, wrenches, and other tools to achieve tasks.
- Maintains awareness of safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment, including properly wearing and using personal safety equipment
- May perform traffic control activities, as needed, and observes roadway courtesies. Follows safety regulations on all work zone and flagging sites, including placing barricades and cones, reports safety hazards and traffic problems.
- Respond to change productively and complete other tasks as assigned.

- High school education or G.E.D
- 18 years of age
- One to three years of prior related experience or training
- Valid driver’s license
