What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP BSA/AML Officer position at FinWise Bank?
The BSA/AML Officer is responsible for the FCC team and serves as a critical function in FCC Governance including programmatic updates, enhancements, risk assessments and issues management to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Act as liaison between FinWise and the Bank’s partners to ensure operational compliance and execution and effectiveness of internal controls
- Understand settings and parameters within transaction monitoring and screening systems and ensure alignment with the Bank’s risk profile.
- Review and approve change management documentation related to FCC technology such as watchlist screening, 314a, transaction monitoring rules, scenarios, routines agents etc.
- Ensure that all required regulatory reporting is conducted in a timely, accurate, complete, and compliant manner, including but not limited to the timely and properly completed submissions of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) list screening matches, FinCEN 314(a) matches and 314(b) procedures and reporting.
- Responsible for maintaining and updating the AML, CFT, Sanctions, Fraud policies and procedures and seeking approval by the Bank’s Board of Directors.
- Oversight and/or administration of independent audits, regulatory exams and risk assessments with appropriate analysis on products/services, customers, geographies and distribution channels/transactions, that may present AML/CFT/Sanctions and Fraud risks.
- Develop and exploit appropriate insights to determine risk trends, as well as drive operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Perform engagement management responsibilities, including control design performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, quality review and partner management.
- Responsible for monthly reporting to the Board of Directors.
- Maintain strong AML, CFT, Sanctions, Fraud and other applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., FFIEC, FATF etc.).
- Maintain deep domain expertise across AML, CFT, Sanctions, Fraud through participation in applicable forums/training and staying current and new Bank, federal and state regulations.
- Work cross functionally with operational management to proactively address AML, CFT, Sanctions and Fraud compliance needs and gaps.
- Strengthen and build relationships with Bank and Bank partner resources.
- Analyze the effectiveness of internal controls; develop plans to correct weaknesses and
- monitor implementation.
- Maintain and govern operational processes related to AML, CFT, Sanctions, Fraud including but not limited to customer identification and verification, customer due diligence, transaction monitoring (TM), and unusual activity referrals from various lines of business.
- Oversee compliance with all regulations as required by law, including but not limited to AML, CFT, Sanctions, Fraud, Regulation CC (Funds availability), and other regulations as required by law as it relates to this position.
- Demonstrate ongoing executive presence in engagement with the Board of Directors, Regulators and other executive staff.
- Drive establishment of and effective execution of BSA Pillars 1) BSA Officer 2) Training 3) Internal Controls 4) CDD 5) Independent Testing.
- Attend partner site visits as needed.
- Performs other regulatory FCC compliance duties as required.

Required Education / Experience / License:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 10 years of direct experience or responsibility for BSA/AML
- 5 years of management experience
- 5 years of Fintech Banking experience
- ACAMS or CFE certification

- Work in person at FinWise Murray, UT office location.
