The Night Shift Maintenance Shop Laborer plays an important role supporting the members of the Maintenance Team in ensuring trucks and equipment are clean and ready for operation each day. This individual is responsible for a variety of tasks, with a primary focus on pressure washing and degreasing tractor trailers. The tasks also include cleaning equipment and supporting the general needs of the shop. Exceptional individuals in this role can also learn some maintenance and repair work, enabling them to move toward Mechanic roles in the company over time.
COMPENSATION
$19.71 to $26.15 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pressure wash and degrease large fleet each night.
- Maintain maintenance shop, fuel farm, and property grounds in a clean and neat condition free of debris, trash, oil and lubricants.
- Clean and disinfect company trucks, company vehicles, and heavy equipment to standard.
- Assist Tire Tech with maintenance of tires and parts as needed.
- Perform snow removal operation as needed.
- Safely operate pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical tools and forklift as needed.
- Occasionally assist mechanics with repairs as needed.
- Checking primary email on a regular basis for any communication from the company, as this is the company’s primary mode of communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Desire and drive to learn and expand knowledge and skillset on maintenance responsibilities.
- Extremely eager and willing to successfully complete all assigned tasks.
- Highly dependable, reliable, honest and coachable.
- Significant ability to follow instructions, prioritize effectively, work independently, manage time, multitask, and handle stress.
- Able to comply with all safety rules and policies
- Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and team members.
- Ability to safely perform physical & manual work, including shoveling and pressure washing equipment.
- Good safety history and a willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practices including the use of PPE.
- Preferred: driving experience, especially pulling and backing trailers.
- Consistent access to a reliable personal email account.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Primary functions require the physical ability and mobility to stand, sit, or lie down for extended periods of time and repeatedly work overhead, kneel, crawl, push, pull, bend, twist, and climb equipment as required by task. Keen sense of smell and hearing to identify unseen problems with equipment or fluids. Ability to frequently lift 25 to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Primarily indoor work in a maintenance shop. Regularly exposed to hazards such as noise, fumes, moving equipment, liquids, lubricants, and high humidity due to pressure washer.
