Job Description

Fire Alarm System Technician

Inspect and test the fire alarm system to ensure inputs and outputs are functioning as designed.
Review system drawings.
Test fire control panel signals to the monitoring organization.
Test interlocked functions such as door holders, air handling unit shutdowns, fire curtains, elevator control, access control relays, smoke control relays, etc.
Meet with Fire Marshals for final inspections on new or modified systems.
Panel configuration.
Documentation.

Skills :

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision - training provided as needed.

Must possess high electrical aptitude.

Must be proficient with basic computer skills including excel, emails, etc.

Must have high integrity - as we are all held accountable for following NFPA standards, customer requirements, insurance requirements, etc.

Excellent communication skills.

Punctuality is expected.

Be a professional representative of the company.

Be a team player - adhere to our positive, mutually respectful company culture.

Must be a clean and organized individual - keep service vehicle clean and maintain minimal required stock of parts necessary for service.

Qualifications :

Required : High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required : Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.

Desired : 1-3 years of industry experience.

Desired : Michigan Fire Alarm Specialty Technician (FAST) License

Desired : NICET Fire Alarm Systems

Additional Requirements :

Must be available for emergency service calls.

Must pass initial and random drug screenings.

Must be comfortable working on ladders and lifts / not afraid of heights.

Must be able to work while exposed to wide temperature fluctuations - in a hot plant or in the cold outside for example.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and in excess of 50 pounds on occasion.
