Fire Protection Team is seeking a confident and self-motivated Sales Manager to grow our Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, and Extinguisher business in the Connecticut area, in vertical markets such as Healthcare, K-12, Higher Education, and Commercial/Industrial. Using your financial expertise, along with your critical thinking and influencing skills, you will help tailor our customer’s needs into winning solutions, whether it’s in the new construction market or direct end-user service market. The Sales Manager will be chiefly responsible for new construction, retrofit, and inspection/testing sales management; ensuring strong customer relationships are established and maintained while also driving employees to achieve business goals.

As the Sales Manager, you will be principally involved in leading a sales team to overdrive quota, capture new and develop existing market share, and grow the Fire business by being in a position of management with direct reports. You will work in an open, collaborative, team environment in support of our ownership and customer centric culture. Your sought-after primary customers will be end users, electrical and general contractors along with a focus on turnkey and bundled sales.

The position is based in Cheshire, Connecticut and you’ll lead a team of sales professionals who sell fire services tailored to meet our customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for administering, communicating and complying with all company policies and procedures, whether formally or informally communicated.
  • Committed to developing and organizing (build, hire, develop and align) a high-performing team.
  • Comfortable leading and working in teams, experienced at project management and successful selling at all customer levels.
  • Experience in managing a team through a transition or significant organizational change
  • Manage the day-to-day high-volume activities of the sales team ensuring we meet or exceed customer and sales goal expectations.
  • Grow and retain the recurring revenue base and associated service revenues by directly coaching/mentoring/training sales teams.
  • Ensure the sales force receives coaching and training on the technical aspects of the organization’s products and services; on marketing campaigns and sales promotions; and on sales techniques, procedures, and standards that will help them achieve their sales targets.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills with a strong understanding of inter-departmental relations.
  • Develop business plans including business development strategies, sales staffing, sales market assignments, negotiate contracts, strategic customer development and industry relations, and execute pricing strategy to develop new business and maintain existing business.
  • Develop sales employees to overdrive quota, achieve sales forecast, and provide input to budget.
  • Assist employees in determining margins, identifying resources, and assessing future potential business.
  • Act as a resource to sales employees regarding our products and services.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing, customer retention, advertising, pricing, and distribution strategies for the business.
  • Focus on high level customer (internal and external) networking and drive growth through collaboration and customer success.
  • Identify market opportunities and develop strategies to maximize our core business of fire and life safety products & services.
  • Review proposals and estimates to ensure accuracy, company standards, and professional quality to meet company and customer objectives.
  • Conduct regular joint key client sessions (with sales associate) to assist the sales by building and strengthening customer relationships, sharpening our staff’s skills of negotiation, and closing new business.
  • Review and monitor sales performance, and refine sales strategies as required to ensure employee successfully meets assigned goals and objectives. Reallocate resources to improve overall results as needed.
  • Actively participate in senior-level selling to large / key accounts.
  • Maintain ongoing contacts with large/key accounts to validate or modify our solution offerings to evolve with our customers’ business objectives.
  • Maintains trade contacts and actively participates in functions in industry associations in accordance with company policy.
  • Design overall operational objectives and work plans for sales to electrical/general contractors, and owners and delegate assignments to subordinate staff.
  • Execute and refine strategy to build relationships with engineering community.
  • Develop strategy for retention of account base and development of new accounts.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/state-recognized GED
  • Five years of sales experience in fire and life safety. Incremental security, building technologies, or similar field desirable.
  • Preferred experience: University degree in business or associated discipline (marketing or engineering preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and negotiation skills in English.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Required travel: 50-75%

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
