What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Clerk position at Fire-X Sales & Service?
Fire Protection Products is an industry leader in the installation and servicing of specialized fire suppression systems. We have an opening for a Warehouse Clerk at Cumberland, Maryland office location. Our systems save lives and protect property each and every day.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assure stock and warehouse facility is maintained in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
· Receive, identify, mark and place materials sent to the warehouse and sales counter according to established procedures.
· Keep requisitions for supplies; prepare various merchandise for delivery.
· Prepare packages for shipping according to established procedures.
· Assist with providing necessary security within the warehouse and monitor area for signs of shrinkage.
· Communicate with various personnel, departments, vendors and others to provide and receive information, resolve questions and issues, and coordinate activities.
· Pick up and deliver items utilizing company vehicles as required.
· Maintain a variety of records, files and reports; maintain records of stock and order supplies as necessary.
· Operate a variety of warehouse equipment and vehicles; utilize a variety of hand tools as required.
· Arrange for the maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment as needed.
· Operate a computer to process reports and forms, and maintain inventory of warehouse materials as required.
· Assist with the set-up and stocking of new service vehicles, according to current layout and stocking plan.
· Maintain the warehouse in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.
· General vehicle maintenance: change light bulbs, change batteries etc.
· General facility maintenance: change light bulbs, leaf blow, shovel and salt walkways etc.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
· Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping, receiving
· Issuing materials, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization and stock inventory procedures.
· Must be familiar with DOT / Hazmat shipping requirements.
· Proper lifting techniques.
· Record-keeping techniques.
· Health and safety regulations.
· Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
· Inventory methods and practices.
ABILITY TO:
· Receive, store, pick-up and distribute supplies, materials and equipment.
· Maintain appropriate stock levels.
· Establish and maintain effective housekeeping procedures.
· Ability to perform unit of measure conversions, basic arithmetic and reading a tape measure.
· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
· Lift heavy objects.
· Maintain records, inventory and prepare reports.
· Establish and maintain polite, cooperative, and effective working relationships with others.
· Meet schedules and time lines.
· Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
