Pharmacy Technician
Under the direct supervision of the Area Director or a Registered Pharmacist and according to the standard procedures compounds and readies for dispensing medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving orders from physicians or other qualified prescribers; maintains the drug inventory; maintains records; processes patient charge documents and labels; mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique; inspects medication units; and performs various other related duties. Pharmacy technicians do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

What You Will Do:
- Procures and distributes drug orders per physician request, pharmacist request or pre-arranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols, and within specified time frame.
- Fills physician orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts, medication requisitions and specialty items/bins and delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas.
- Prepares sterile products (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition).
- Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, rotating, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.
- Utilizes pre-packaging machine, Pyxis.
- Performs monthly unit inspections of selected areas.
- Utilizes billing and other technician service functions in the pharmacy computer system.
- Generates reports, pick lists and labels as required.
- Answers the telephone and requests at the window.
What You Will Need:
- Current pharmacy technician certification required.
- High School diploma, or equivalent. College courses desirable, but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work, have an attention to detail, and work under minimum supervision.
- Must be proficient in mathematics, basic and advanced pharmacy calculations and display essential critical thinking skills.
- Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
