Under the supervision of the Vice President, Clinical Operations and CNO, provides technical
expertise and leadership, coordinates the functions and promotes the development of the Cardiac Diagnostics and Rehab, Pulmonary Services, Cath Lab and Pediatric Cardiology departments. Organizes and oversees all aspects and activities of these departments such as patient and staff scheduling, billing, compliance, QA, patient care, supplies and inventory, equipment maintenance, employee & customer satisfaction, cost effectiveness and productivity. Supports the philosophy and mission of the department and Firelands Health. Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the departments.
- Responsible for employee management for all departments assigned. This to include, but not limited to, recruitment, retention, employee relations, management of time and attendance records, staff scheduling, training/new hire orientation and annual performance evaluations.
- Assists with annual proficiency check-offs for all team members and monitors compliance with required hospital testing and competencies for all staff.
- Reconciles and bills for departmental procedures in conjunction with Revenue Cycle.
- Responsible for the building and editing of the departmental dictionary within the EHR, Meditech.
- Prepares annual operational budget and maintains operations within the approved budget.
- Creates and reports capital requisitions for capital budget requests.
- Knowledge and understanding of departmental charging and coding procedures to assure optimal reimbursement for departments.
- Collaborates and communicates with Medical Directors on departmental updates, policy and equipment purchases.
- Oversees CAP accreditation program as well as the IAC accreditation, participates in cardiac services accreditation and certification programs including Ohio Department of Health licensure and Maternal-Child licensure.
- Actively participates with the ACHA accreditation process.
- Performs quality control measures to assure procedural quality. Conducts quality assurance to ensure that departments meet and improve on the services provided.
- Responsible for compliance through such measures as dashboards and tracking of QA outcomes. Implements coaching and training of staff to maintain appropriate compliance.
- Monitors the education and observation of students within the Cardiac Diagnostics, Cardiac Rehab, Respiratory Services, Cath Lab, and Pediatric Cardiology departments.
- Management of the following tasks related to maintaining the Chest Pain Center Accreditation.
- Maintains appropriate documentation to support accreditation process.
- Develops and reviews Chest Pain Center policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with Nursing Education Program to organize and provide annual nursing based competencies related to acute coronary syndromes.
- Collaborates with Chest Pain Center Medical Director and other appropriate personnel to develop and implement care pathways needed to obtain and maintain Chest Pain Center Accreditation. Collaborates with Medical and Hospital Staff about proper use and implementation of the care pathways.
- Participates in the budgeting process for necessary resources needed to meet the key elements of Accreditation.
- Collaborates with Care Management Staff to collect and analyze process data about Chest Pain Center.
- Participates in performance / process improvement initiatives.
- Participates in and report to the Cardiovascular Sciences Committee.
- Collaborates with the Community Outreach Department in the organization of community awareness programs about acute coronary syndromes.
- Collaborates with Continuing Medical Education Program to organize annual training about acute coronary syndromes.
- Serves as the liaison between FRMC and EMS units including dispatch. Facilitates EMS/dispatch communications, education, case reviews, and protocols concerning accreditation standards for chest pain, stroke, heart failure, and trauma.
- Management of department of policies and procedures.
- Assists in the quality assurance programs and monitors patient satisfaction scores for each department. Responsible for developing action plan to ensure patient satisfaction scores are aligned with strategic initiatives.
- Serves as an education resource for all departmental and non-departmental team members; this shall include in-service education to team members.
- Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve in a positive manner working together with other departments to attain high quality patient care and satisfaction. Works cooperatively with all staff.
- Maintains and verifies accuracy of the charge master.
- Participates on committees and task forces as required.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years clinical experience in a critical care environment and five (5) years supervisory experience required.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required licensed by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP).
- BLS and neonatal resuscitation certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
