What You Will Do
- Provides nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties. Provides to individuals and groups nursing care requiring the application of basic knowledge of the biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. Utilizes nursing practice standards and evidence-based practices.
- Patient Care:
- Provides direct patient care for assigned patients and assists in care of other patients as needed.
- Performs all technical aspects of dialysis procedures for assigned patients as prescribed.
- Responsible for accurate documentation of information related to patient treatment.
- Responsible for reporting any significant information or change in patient conditions to the supervisor.
- Administers medications as ordered to assigned patients and assists supervisor with administration of medications to other patients as needed.
- Educates patients and family regarding renal disease, treatment options, medications, laboratory results, diet and access care.
- Competency with all emergency operational procedures. Initiates CPR measures in the event of cardiac and/or pulmonary arrest. Responds to emergency situations related to dialysis.
- Utilizes nursing practice standards and evidence-based practices, obtains patient information/data; assists in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s care.
- Technical:
- Able to safely operate all dialysis related equipment. Able to provide minor troubleshooting.
- Competency with all emergency equipment and ability to operate the equipment efficiently.
- Staff-Related:
- Acquires information and knowledge in current practice related to dialysis principles and techniques by participating in inservices.
- Must have a current Ohio LPN license and CPR prior to patient care experience.
- Excellent organizational, customer service skills, and computer proficiency are a must.
- May be required to have a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
