What You Will Do :
Completes a rehabilitative services assessment on all patients upon admission. Coordinates with recreation therapist to ensure these assessments are completed in a timely manner.Leads group sessions as part of specific therapeutic plan of care. Develops group programming with topics that are within scope of training and licensure (when applicable). Group topics are developed based on the milieu and in coordination with recreation and behavioral health therapists.Implements a variety of programming that includes educational information as well as rehearsal of skills to develop recreational interests and healthy behaviors such as exercise. Prepares written information / handouts that reinforce educational information as well as information regarding community resources when appropriateActively reaches out to patients to encourage them to come to groups. Uses positive reinforcement to promote participation in groups and positive behavior change.Actively monitors safety of staff and patients and provides verbal de-escalation upon early identification of warning signs. Supervises visitations watching for interactions that are causing patients emotional distress. Intervenes during visitations when necessary to promote the well-being of patients. Informs assigned nurse and behavioral health therapists of identified concerns as appropriate.Assists with any duties as needed to ensure patients' needs are met including taking vitals, passing meal trays and snacks, ensuring patients have dietary requests and needs met and provides one-to-one monitoring of patients when critical for patient safety.Participates with team when responding to crisis on the unit and follows direction of charge nurse or other party leading the intervention. Intervenes to restrain violent or imminently violent or suicidal patients by verbal or physical means per policy and procedure.Assists with the orientation of volunteers to the unit and actively participates in and supervises activities led by interns and volunteers as neededObserves patients to detect behavior patterns, documenting and communicating as directed.Communicates with patients' families / others.Assists with admissions and discharges.Assist with patient safety checks.What You Will Need :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in mental health technology, psychology, sociology or a related field (Human Services) required or equivalent work experience.1-3 years working in behavioral health, social services, or related field.Must be certified in BLS (and recertified biennial) or obtained within 6 months of hire.Must be certified in Aegis (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or obtained within 6 months of hire.Equal Opportunity Employer / Protected Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities
