What You Will Do
- The Site Director aligns the department with the overall goals of FRHS, engages in Leadership Development activities, and collaborates with the other departments of Firelands Health and offices of the Behavioral Health Department. Provides the oversight for the full range of services provided at the assigned site(s).
- Represents and markets Firelands Health and the local counseling and recovery services in the community. Responsible for managing the department budget(s) for assigned cost centers including appropriate utilization of public and private insurances, MHRS Board contracts and grant funds when applicable.
- Ensures all services are provided within department guidelines and in compliance with rules/standards set forth by Medicaid/Medicare, HFAP, OhioMHAS, and CARF.
- Actively engages in strategic planning and the development of initiatives for quality care and patient and employee satisfaction. Holds site management team accountable for engaging in and supporting initiatives.
- The Site Director builds a positive working environment. Encourages open, honest communication and input from employees, patients, and referrals sources. Ensures members of the management team support departmental initiatives and demonstrate ACE behaviors in their leadership style. Develops a flexible working environment that ensures patients receive the care they need while also attending the needs of employees.
- The Site Director actively contributes ideas to improve the department including, but not limited to: internal trainings, new program ideas or revisions to existing programs, initiatives to improve the satisfaction of patients, referral sources and employees; cost-savings suggestions, ideas to improve the quality of care, implementation of best practices, etc.
- The Site Director closely monitors budgets, ensures steady and timely billing, minimization of expenses, and works collaboratively with Operations Director and Finance Director regarding problems with contract utilization or other financial/budget-related issues.
- Educates and holds accountable the site management team regarding compliance with billing public and private insurances including proper staff assignment, prior-authorizations, and clinical exceptions (when applicable) and staff achievement of Patient Care Standards. Reviews documentation of supervisory interventions with staff in response to deficiencies in these areas.
- Ensures Coordinators utilize and respond to reports in the EMR to monitor timely and accurate completion of progress notes, treatment plans, and other clinical elements.
- Monitors outstanding patient balances, in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Financial Director, and follows up per department policies. Ensures front office staff are collecting co-pays/payments on payment plans and clinical staff are involved as appropriate to role.
- Works collaboratively with Operations Director and other members of the BH department management team (when applicable) regarding changes in services in response to changes in funding, service demands, department priorities and/or staffing. Shares staffing as needed to serve patient demands.
- The Site Director is responsible to oversee operations in a manner that works towards achieving and sustaining a state of ongoing compliance with licensure and accreditation standards. Timely completion of routine Safety Inspection checklists, required code drills, and compliance with medication storage practices. Communicates policy/procedure changes in a timely manner and follows up to ensure changes have been implemented.
- Oversees management team to ensure that supervision is provided commensurate with licensure and performance and that supervisor addresses quality of care. Organizes continuing education offerings with coordinators for site, department and Firelands Health as needed.
- Completes performance appraisals prior to deadline and requires the same of program coordinators.
- Master’s degree in a behavioral health field, plus the appropriate independent license through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board strongly preferred. Leadership experience in behavioral health setting will be considered in lieu of independent licensure.
- Demonstrated skills with electronic medical records, Microsoft products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a general aptitude for adapting to technology are mandatory requirements for this position.
- Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
- Heart Saver, Aegis Crisis Prevention, and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.
- Sensitive to the cultural needs of the individual and/or family served. Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes.
- Successful completion of a one hundred eighty (180) day probationary period.
