Company Overview:
We are a Commercial Fire Alarm company providing sales, service and installation of fire alarm systems in Ocean City, Berlin and the surrounding areas. Family-owned and operated, we have been in business for more than 38 years.
We currently have a position at the entry level for a Trainee who is interested in learning to be an Inspector of commercial fire alarm systems.
Training:
We will train the right applicant in everything needed to develop the knowledge and skills required to do the job right. We offer both on-the-job training with experienced technicians and also professional classroom training (virtual and/or in person)
Qualifications:
- Verifiable references from prior employers demonstrating ability to listen, learn, communicate, follow directions and work independently.
- Proof of good driving record and valid driver’s license. License must be from a state we service. You will need to be approved by our insurance carrier.
- Basic Electrical knowledge required.
- Desktop and laptop computer literacy required.
- Knowledge of hand tools and how to use them. (Employee will need to provide his/her own small hand tools and tool belt. Employer will provide power tools and specialty tools as needed.)
- Willingness and ability to share “on-call” duties with other technicians on a rotating basis.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to and from work
- Reside within 30 minute commute, year round, of Ocean City, Maryland. You will need to provide verifiable proof of residency.
- Complete the required really skills tests listed in this announcement.
Duties:
- Communicate with customers and co-workers clearly and effectively to provide best possible level of service and satisfaction.
- Professional appearance and demeanor required in all customer interactions.
- Learn to perform thorough fire alarm inspections and file required paperwork with the appropriate governmental agencies.
- Maintain a clean, stocked vehicle
- Assist as requested with jobs inside the shop to keep inventory in order and keep shop clean
- Drive company vehicle(s)
- Act as helper to other qualified technicians until trained and ready to work independently.
- Other duties as assigned and commensurate with experience and training
Physical Requirements:
- The Trainee position requires riding in vehicle and walking stairs with occasional stooping, reaching, kneeling and crouching/ squatting. Frequent or occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of 20 – 50 pounds is required, as well as work on a ladder.
Job Type: Full-time / Part-Time
Pay: Starting pay is $41,600 to $43,680 based upon candidate experience, with scheduled raises based on job progress and performance. Additional pay will be earned when employee is on-call and additional overtime pay will be earned if required to respond. Starting rate may be higher with verifiable experience with fire alarm systems or low voltage systems and wiring.
