Complex Environmental Manager
Job Summary:
The Complex Environmental Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Wastewater Treatment, Offal Facility, and Water Plant . This includes staff supervision, facility maintenance, safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental management. The role ensures that all EPA, local, state, and federal regulations are met while maintaining operational efficiency and environmental integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Facility & Compliance Management
- Oversee wastewater treatment, offal facility, and water plant operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Gather and submit water and wastewater samples per EPA, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with Pilgrim’s Pride policies and regulatory agencies.
- Communicate effectively with regulators on matters related to permitting, expansion, and non-compliance issues .
- Ensure all necessary environmental permits are obtained and maintained.
✅ Supervision & Training
- Manage the Wastewater Department and supervise wastewater personnel .
- Train staff on best practices for water treatment and compliance with city and state regulations.
- Provide environmental training for staff and division personnel.
✅ Safety & Maintenance
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed, minimizing risks in wastewater and offal departments.
- Supervise cleaning and maintenance of wastewater and offal facilities.
- Oversee design, construction, and startup of new environmental protection systems in collaboration with Division Engineers .
✅ Environmental Management & Reporting
- Investigate and address environmental complaints .
- Stay current on changing regulations and technology affecting environmental management.
- Participate in emergency and chemical release response programs .
- Provide reports to management regarding environmental compliance, risks, and improvements .
Qualifications & Experience:
✔️ Education & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of directly related experience (work experience accepted in lieu of a degree).
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field preferred.
✔️ Certifications & Skills:
- Class III Wastewater License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Experience in environmental engineering, wastewater treatment, and air permitting programs .
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance (EPA, state, and local environmental laws).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) .
- Experience handling confidential information professionally.
- Proven leadership and management skills .
