Job Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician 2 is responsible for performing advanced maintenance tasks to support the efficient operation of manufacturing and packaging equipment in the facility. This mid-level position involves conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing preventive maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of IQF fruit processing and packaging equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Equipment Maintenance: Perform advanced maintenance tasks on manufacturing and packaging equipment, including diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for production machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot complex issues with manufacturing and packaging equipment. Provide solutions and perform necessary repairs.
- Equipment Monitoring: Monitor the performance of production equipment, including refrigeration systems used for IQF processes, and address any irregularities or malfunctions promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards promptly.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools specific to manufacturing and packaging equipment. Order new supplies as needed and ensure proper storage.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Use maintenance management software to track tasks.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency maintenance requests related to production equipment promptly to minimize disruption to operations.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to Maintenance Technician 1 staff. Assist in training new maintenance personnel.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and implement cost-saving measures. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and packaging equipment, including refrigeration systems used in IQF processes.
- Experience with forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift operation preferred.
- Familiarity with GMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices) in a food manufacturing facility.
- Metal fabrication experience is a plus.
- Experience working with automation and system controls is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and other maintenance tools
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including cold storage areas.
- Ability to stand, walk, crouch, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
