As we scale, we are doubling down on our founder-led brand recognition and executing a 12-month content strategy to position Firestorm alongside industry leaders. We are seeking a Marketing Content Strategist to lead this effort by creating high-impact written content that translates Firestorm’s innovations into compelling narratives for the DoD and national security sector.

About The Role

As Firestorm’s Marketing Content Strategist, you will be responsible for shaping the company’s narrative and driving engagement with key DoD stakeholders, industry partners, and national security decision-makers. Your content will directly impact Firestorm’s visibility, fueling media coverage, procurement interest, and strategic partnerships. Success in this role means measurable growth in audience engagement across DoD and defense innovation circles, increased media traction, and a rise in inbound inquiries from acquisition offices seeking to integrate Firestorm’s technology. You are a strategic storyteller with a deep understanding of the defense and national security landscape. You thrive in environments where technology, policy, and mission intersect, and you know how to translate complex technical concepts into compelling narratives that influence decision-makers. Whether it’s crafting thought leadership pieces, writing technical explainers, or developing content that drives engagement with DoD stakeholders, you know how to position a company for maximum impact in the defense ecosystem. You have a strong editorial mindset and a keen ability to distill key insights from engineers, product managers, and business development teams. You’re comfortable navigating DoD procurement processes, emerging defense technologies, and competitive positioning. Your experience in defense-focused content marketing, journalism, or strategic communications allows you to anticipate industry trends and craft messaging that resonates with acquisition professionals, policymakers, and warfighters. Key Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Brand Positioning

  • Drive engagement with DoD stakeholders and industry decision-makers by creating content that influences procurement, partnerships, and adoption of Firestorm’s technology.
  • Develop and execute a strategic content plan aligned with Firestorm’s product roadmap, defense priorities, and market positioning.
  • Craft compelling, long-form thought leadership content that highlights Firestorm’s mission impact, disruptive technology, and operational value.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all written content, including website copy, social media, and sales collateral.

High-Quality Content Creation

  • Write articles, white papers, case studies, and technical explainers to establish Firestorm as a thought leader in unmanned systems, additive manufacturing, and autonomy.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, engaging narratives tailored for DoD stakeholders, industry partners, and government decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and BD teams to develop customer-focused messaging that resonates with the DoD’s acquisition and innovation ecosystem.

Digital Marketing & Audience Engagement

  • Manage Firestorm’s content calendar, ensuring regular publication of high-impact, defense-focused content.
  • Work with the Visual Content Producer to optimize content for web, social media, and video formats.
  • Optimize SEO and distribution strategy to maximize reach and engagement across digital platforms.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Conduct market research to align Firestorm’s messaging with DoD budget priorities, procurement trends, and emerging defense technologies.
  • Monitor competitor positioning and ensure Firestorm’s content stands out in a crowded defense technology landscape.

Required

Skills and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in content marketing, strategic communications, or journalism in defense, aerospace, robotics, or national security.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a portfolio demonstrating experience in long-form content, technical writing, and thought leadership.
  • Strong understanding of DoD procurement, innovation pathways (SBIR, OTA, RDT&E), and defense market dynamics.
  • Experience working with engineers, product managers, and BD teams to develop clear, technical messaging.
  • SEO and digital marketing experience, with an ability to optimize content for online reach and engagement.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or technology company in the defense sector.
  • Familiarity with UAS, additive manufacturing, autonomy, and AI-driven warfare technologies.
  • Experience working directly with DoD acquisition offices, program managers, or defense-focused media outlets.
  • Background in government, military, or defense journalism.

Salary Range: $77,000 - $95,000 annually
