Job Description
Coaching and Mentoring
- Provide students with individualized goal development, mentoring, and tracking to help them set and attain academic and behavioral goals.
- Support students in navigating academic and personal challenges, including managing stress and balancing school with life responsibilities.
- Assist students in identifying their strengths and areas for improvement to create tailored action plans.
- Regularly track students’ progress and adjust strategies or plans to ensure they are on track to meet their goals.
- Offer encouragement and motivation to students, helping them stay focused and resilient throughout their academic journey.
Personal Development
- Support students in building essential life skills, such as self-discipline, self-advocacy, communication, and emotional intelligence.
- Encourage a growth mindset, helping students understand that challenges are opportunities for growth.
- Facilitate workshops or group sessions on relevant topics like stress management, career exploration, leadership, and work-life balance.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with faculty, academic advisors, counselors, and other campus staff to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
- Communicate regularly with students to check in on their progress and offer support when needed.
- Maintain detailed records of coaching sessions, student progress, and action plans.
Retention and Academic Support
- Monitor student engagement and academic performance to identify at-risk students and provide early intervention.
- Help students stay motivated, manage academic pressures, and stay connected to the campus community.
- Promote and enhance student retention through proactive coaching and by providing tools for navigating obstacles to academic success.
- Provide strategies for students to build academic confidence and self-efficacy, particularly for those facing academic or personal challenges.
Center Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the assigned center, ensuring all activities run smoothly and efficiently.
- Monitor the implementation of program activities, ensuring they align with the established goals and objectives.
- Coordinate schedules, resources, and logistics to maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe environment for all participants.
Requirements
- College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong "people skills" and the ability to work well with students, staff, parents, teachers, and school administrators.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students.
- Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Suite & Google Suite.
- Highly organized with good time-management skills.
