We currently need (1) Shop welder / laborer for a structural steel shop located in North San Diego County for shop and field work. Our primary work areas are San Diego County and Orange County. We are searching for qualified applicants who already live in the North San Diego County area, as we frequently commute from our shop in Oceanside to coastal South Orange county and coastal San Diego County. - We will not relocate you.

Drive time is compensated, with overtime rates applying at the end of day, should it exceed 8 hours.

Shop welder - Must be able to weld with dual shield in the shop, Fillet welds, CJP's, etc. You will also need to be able to prep pieces, cope, grind etc. - You must be able to describe and demonstrate your abilities. Please indicate any previous injuries.

Laborer: Will make small piece parts, part clean up and assist in fabrication, we can train you to fabricate pieces and how to weld, as well as perform testing in house.  If you can't read a tape don't bother applying.

All tasks would include both shop and field work primarily for custom homes in San Diego and Orange county. Often times you may also be fabricating parts as well, as we are a small shop.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, climb steel, walk at height, etc.

Must be able to speak English
knowledge of construction/heavy equipment a plus.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for various types of weld preparation, welding and weld finishing operations to customer drawings, specifications.
Proficient in assigned welding techniques.
Interpretation of drawings, including weld requirement symbols
Working knowledge of fixturing and weld set up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)
Conventional and precision measuring instruments.
Welding equipment maintenance.
Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools.
Safety and Housekeeping
Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor

Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds. Must be able to weld and work in tight areas. Must be able to perform a mixture of bending, squatting, kneeling, and standing for the shift. Must be able to wear respirator when needed (possible non-welding tasks) and have no breathing difficulties.
