The Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst is responsible for providing the organization with budget monitoring, financial analysis and monitoring, and for supporting procurement-related Finance duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget Monitoring
- Provides project management support to keep budget process progressing, including following up with internal stakeholders on budget requirements, justifications and information required for annual and mid-year budgeting process
- Works with immediate supervisor and key stakeholders preparing budget to actual variance analyses, identifies trends, and supports with the development of corrective budget action plans
- Works with immediate supervisor and key stakeholders to understand cost drivers for both programs and operations
- Financial Analysis and Monitoring
- Partners with program and organization partners to identify risks and opportunities to the business
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data to managers throughout the organization
- Analyzes current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, expenses and capital expenditures, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance; elevates to Manager, FP&A for resolution
- Prepares and monitors monthly actual and forecast processes including expense, capital budget and cash flow forecasts and analysis
- Runs monthly and yearly financial analytics such as the monthly and year-end financial reporting package
- Provides insights into the organization’s financial performance, including expense run-rates, trends, variance analysis, forecasts and project costs
- Performs ad hoc analysis and assists in building financial models to support management business decisions
- Procurement
- Prepares and tracks organization’s Agreement-Contract Requisitions
- Reviews budgets for consent calendar
- Reviews ACRs and provides feedback, as appropriate
- Issues vendor and agreement numbers
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in finance, economics, analytics, statistics, financial analysis, accounting, mathematics, public administration or a related field preferred. Advanced degree a plus
- Experience: Minimum of three years of related experience in finance analysis and planning, consulting or strategic planning within a public company, grant making organization, university or similar industry preferred
- Collaboration and Relationship Building: Proven track record of collaboration with internal and external partners. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across various departments and levels of the organization.
- Leadership: High degree of integrity with proven ability to lead, inspire, mentor, and manage teams within a collaborative environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to build and nurture relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Proven track record of strategic thinking, analyzing complex issues, and developing and implementing innovative solutions.
- Advocacy and Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience in advocacy, public speaking, and effectively communicating complex issues to diverse audiences. Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, including Board of Commissioners.
- Commitment to Mission: Demonstrated experience with public family serving systems, understanding early childhood development, coupled with experience advancing equity and improving outcomes for children and families.
- Analytical Skills: Demonstrated experience using and leveraging data and research to drive decision-making and advance organizational goals and equitable outcomes.
