TITLE: Middle School Teacher
STAFF LEVEL: Faculty
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
STATUS: Full Time, 10 month
Overall Responsibilities
The primary role of a Middle School Teacher at Life Christian Academy is to focus on and teach the strategies and skills that are necessary for students to reach their academic and college/career goals. This is accomplished in a Christian environment where students are taught to know and love Jesus through ethics, respect, academics, and programs.
Principle Responsibilities
- Fosters and enhances an effective learning environment, maintains a safe classroom environment conducive to learning
- Develops and writes daily lesson plans for courses taught in core content areas (Math, Science, English, etc.)
- Establishes and implements, in a positive and supportive manner, classroom management policies and procedures governing student behavior, conduct and discipline
- Communicates with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, on a regular basis, maintains an open, positive relationship as appropriate to provide guidance and evaluation, and to encourage student achievement
- Monitors student progress and collects data that demonstrates progress
- Establishes goals and objectives for students that are aligned with courses
- Plans and uses a variety of researched-based teaching strategies to differentiate instruction in the classroom
- Keeps abreast of current research and best practices in their field of expertise (or in their content area)
- Uses class time well with activities that engage students’ attention and demonstrate a clear purpose
- Gives clear directions and well-organized examples and explanations
- Uses questions and explanations that promote clear thinking
- Teaches students how to ask questions to problem solve in various academic and social settings
- Creates a learning environment founded on student learning rather than curriculum
- Creates an equitable environment of community among students which fosters a respect of each member’s individuality, diversity, and strengths
- Is available to any parent or student who wishes to have a conference
- Plans for and uses online and eLearning as needed/directed
- Learns and uses the FACTS LMS (Learning Management System) as directed
- Composes a working syllabus for each class subject
- Models Biblical principles in making choices to impact students
- Adheres to the faculty and staff professional dress code as determined by the school administration
- Actively supervises students in Chapel to ensure attention/engagement & to assist/maintain a positive culture
- Enforces all school policies and processes, including dress policy, mobile phone policy, behavior expectations
- Articulates in writing and speaking how the teacher’s Christian faith integrates with his or her teaching
- Other duties as assigned.

- Work constructively with colleagues and administration by contributing ideas and listening
- Observe the Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, avoiding a negative, critical spirit, and taking problems to administrator if necessary
- Attend and participate in staff devotions, student chapels, teacher’s meetings, staff/student retreats, church sponsored functions, and other meetings and activities as assigned
- Participate in Professional Learning Community efforts
- Serve on academic committees and teams
- In Community relations the teacher is expected to:
- Participate actively in the community, especially in the church community
- Model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus
- Reflect a positive view of Life Center/Life Christian in interaction with the local community, social media, etc.

- Be proficient with Word, Excel, and ability to become proficient with relevant software and/or applications
Certifications and Licensure
- First Aid/CPR
- Valid Driver’s license
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
- Washington State Teacher Certification preferred (or demonstrated ability to attain within 2 years of commencement)
- Classroom experience preferred (beginning teachers are encouraged to apply)
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn to use and teach use of adaptive software

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This role is performed primarily in a classroom setting. The noise level may be high at times. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. $39,878 – 61,695 annually depending on qualifications and education
