- Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Cash Accountant to join our finance team. The Cash Accountant will be responsible for managing daily cash postings, verifying deposit logs, performing bank reconciliations, assisting in cash forecasting, and working closely with other departments like Accounting, Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR) to identify and correct variances. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial transactions related to cash and bank accounts while supporting effective cash flow management and inter-departmental coordination.
- Daily Cash Posting:
Ensure all entries are recorded in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Verifying Deposit Logs:
Resolve any discrepancies between deposit records and cash receipts.
- Bank Reconciliations:
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and company records.
Prepare bank reconciliation reports and highlight any issues for management.
- Cash Management and Cash Forecasting:
Support the finance team in preparing and updating cash forecasts to project future cash needs and ensure adequate funds are available for operations.
Analyze cash inflows and outflows, identifying trends and providing insights to management for cash planning and strategy.
- Collaboration with Accounting, AP, and AR Teams:
Collaborate with these teams to ensure accurate data reconciliation between departments and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Provide guidance and clarification to AP and AR teams regarding cash transactions, policies, and procedures.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
Prepare periodic cash and bank-related reports for management review.
- Compliance & Internal Controls:
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting materials.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience in cash accounting, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, or similar financial roles preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly with respect to cash handling and cash management.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced skills preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience in bank reconciliations, cash management, and cash forecasting in a corporate environment.
- Experience collaborating with Accounting, AP, and AR departments to resolve financial discrepancies.
- Knowledge of financial reporting and month-end closing procedures.
